Home means security. Sometimes, even the smallest step can make the biggest difference. If you have a deadbolt on your front or back door, replace the 1/2″ screws in your deadbolt strike plates with screws that are 3″ or longer so that the strike plates are secured to the house’s frame instead of the doorjamb. Changing out the screws in the existing hardware makes your deadbolt lock way more effective. You can also make your doorjamb even harder to break into by installing a tougher strike plate, replacing your two-screw plate deadbolt with a four-screw style.
